C&G mag Portrait 1/4
This is the first portait for C&G monthly Mag
This is the first portrait of four reviewers from the Mag. This is my friend Wayne Santos. His portrait is based off the game Seaman for the dreamcast (a really crazy weird fun sim)
For kicks I thought it would be fun to try and animate Wayne in a aquarium/sea.

Underoo
Well I had this done a while ago, I thought I would post it up.
The image of a monster running around in their underpants always made me laugh (you're probably wondering what monster runs around in their under pants... well Marvel's Fing Fang Foom does).
I went with a limited colour scheme, with a less is more approach
I tried a couple styles, but in the end I thought the most fun was a blocky vinyl style.

kidchuckle in 2d artist mag
Been a little while since I've posted anything. Last month I was asked to write a article in 2d artist mag about sketching. Some stuff in the article is old, and some sketches never seen before (well unless you've flipped through my sketchbook or looked over my shoulder). I cover some of my process and go roughly how I take sketch to painting.
2dartist was kind enough to host my article and allow myself to share it. Feel free pass it along.
http://www.2dartistmag.com/artists/issue057_sep10/article01.pdf
I can tell you the full version of the mag is really cool too.. so go out and pickup that version tool.

Zoo Trip
I've been going through some sketchbook stuff and scanning it for my for my archives.
These are some sketches that I had done at the zoo, a lot of fun. (I took the pencils and toned it in photoshop. Digi markers!).
I think this was back in April that I went with Hilary Leung, Haun Tran, Charlene Chua, Kay Huang and Jori Baldwin.
And yes there were Lions and Tigers and Bears (but didn't get a chance this round to draw them... Oh my).

Twisted Metal
Ok this a long story here. C&G magazine contacted me to do some cover work for their magazine for the new Twisted Metal game, because Sony at the time didn't have the time to provide any assets. So I had to base all the artwork from the previous version of Twisted Metal(because I was given very little reference that sony provided, basicaly a brochure with some tiny pics of the arena to work from). It was cool I was really happy with the piece, and C&G was cool with it. And I herd that Jaffe gave it a approval as well.
But somewhere along the lines Sony suddenly was able to come up the resources and decide to do everything internal (got the face palm). I've seen before with big publishers, where things get muttled down the line . But what can you do.
I'm saddened that it wasn't used, but I was surprised they used a simular layout as the one I did. But at the end of the day I have a cool piece that I really had fun and doing a type of grindhouse style to a very cool game!
And now able to post it (and I guess you can compare it to the other cover down the road)

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
I did this Illustration for Lucid Media magazine.
This was a interview with the author Seth Grahame-Smith.
It was fun to try to get a represntation of the author into fiction of the book.
The expression from the photo I was given by the editor worked really well with zombies.
My colours ended being old and victorian. My friend Charlene suggested to push it further by adding canvas and a frame(big credit goes to her!). It made us laugh... I think it was just the right element to make it work.

Toronto Roller Derby
Done for Lucidia Media magazine, June Edition.
It was a really fun article to illustrate for. I got to throw in some pulpy style art and feel from the 60's.
Before working on this piece I went to check out some videos, and boy is it ever a tough sport.
I thought I post up some of the stages I did for painting it. (it's a animated APNG, not all browsers can see this. unfortunately Internet explorer, and Safari can't see this animate. Try firefox or chrome.)
I recently opened a Zazzle store and I have this image for print (as well as others, you can see previews on the side panel.
