Here's this years rendition of the Evil Easter Bunny (click here to see last years).
He makes a return from last year.
Played around with the lighting and shadow for this one this year.
I threw in a shadow from a tree on the left side.. just to fall right on the kids and bellow the bunny (using it as a sort of a graphic design element)
Wanted to use that shadow/contrast to bring your eyes back to the kids and not just the bunny alone. I left a crack of light to highlight the eyes of the children, and the easter egg held in hand.

Return of Evil Easter Bunny
Been a bit crazy last little while.
I've been working on this on and off. Last year I had done the Evil Easter Bunny... and it was well recieved.
So I thought it would be nice to have him make another appearance this year.

study + speed paint 2, 3 and 4
Last little while been doing a lot of practice painting.
Speed paints I'm finding is helping to get into a comfort zone easier.. but also a bit of frustration (not enough time!!!!).
But I'm also enjoying the challenge.

Oxford Family and Friends book 5 and 6
Some work I did for Oxford University Press is now in Publication.
I drew close to 97 b/w + grey scale drawings for "Oxford Family and Friends 5"
and another 97 b/w + grey scale for "Oxford Family and Friends 6"
I got a copy of each from Oxford from the mail today. As I flipped through the work books... I could hear my marker scream at me from the corner of my desk...
"You must marker in mustaches and funny hats" some habits never die.
Oh and also funny enough, my friend Eric Kim had done the cover for both books!
Some sample work.

Speed Paint 1
I've been trying to do some excercises in the morning before starting work.
Speed painting isn't what I'm used to. My preference has always been line first. So I'm trying to get more used to thinking and working more on the fly within a time constraint.
So I had worked on this piece 1.5hr.

space babies
I've been working on this on and off.
I tried to give it a little bit of retro 80's comic feel in the space background with swirls of colours.

Goku Dragonball DAC Challenge
Well over at Design a Character on DA.
This week challenge was re-imagine Goku in a different style. (steps were supposed to be completed during the week... but I ended up finishing most of it last nite. A little bit pumped from watching Canada take the gold for hockey !)
I took it step by step, from roughs, line, line + colour(comic) to more painterly.
The more I colour I seem to find the line very distracting. I didn't intend in doing a painterly style.. but it seems to work better.

Crayonaut: line work
A while back when I had just finished my Power Ranger Valentine, I found out my very talented friend Ander ( http://www.crayonaut.com and http://zaratus.deviantart.com/ ) was also big on Sentai/ Power Ranger stuff.
I was really excited when Ander suggested about doing a collab based on his alias "crayonaut" based on crayons + sentai/power ranger + robot.
So here's the line work that I did. I've been always been blown away by his art, so I'm looking forward to see what he does with the line work!
(make sure you check his sites!)

Robin Mitchell Collaboration
Inbetween work its nice when you can dabble on a few things.. just to change it up.
Robin Mitchell had posted some sweet line work, which you can find here.
After telling him how much I loved his line work, I had found out he had no plans in colour it.
But then said I could take a stab at it.
So here's my take on colours for Robin's artwork
and make sure you vist his website http://www.robinmitchell.ca/
his deviantart site http://robinmitchell.deviantart.com/

Space Baby Valentines
I really really wanted to do 2 pieces for Valentines. One kind of fun and retro and one baby cute and retro.
Unfortunately I'm runng out of time... and work is getting kind of hairy.
I rather not rush this piece.
Actually the main Baby is something I dug up from my sketchbook circa 2003. Totally forgot about it until someone had pointed it out to me.
At the time "floating babies from space" was the concept given to me from a friend of a friend (Pat a very tallented designer.. I can't remember his last name.. this so long ago).
But anyways... thought I dig it up and try to polish it up and redesign it some. I hope to finish painting at some point.

Heart vs Break: Happy Valentines
I had this finished a little while back but I hadn't much time to post it up
But this is my homage to Sentai, Henshin japanese style (power rangers, kamen rider)
My goal for this piece was to play around with lighting. and how some objects are transparent and how they glow when backlit.
Hope you have a Happy Valentines
(feel like forever since I've posted anything :P )

here's a WIP I manage to save progress shots and make a animated gif

Heart vs Break: line work
something I'm working on for Valentines.
It's a homage to 70's sentai and henshin (power ranger type shows). But it's Valentine themed.
Here's the current line work.
I'm working on this on and off jobs. I'm juggling. But the next update will hopefully be near valentines.

Lighting:Tattoo Wonderwoman
Well I thought I'd spend sometime trying out some different types of lighting variations on wonderwoman.
My favorite is the last one... the lighting is non traditional for a portrait.. but very striking

Fanexpo Tattoo Wonderwoman
Just need to get away from work and doodle..
so it thought come back and look through those fanexpo pics and figure I'd pick Tattoo Wonderwoman as my subject.
Had a lot of fun... with this.. maybe at somepoint I'll come back to this.
I loved her Wonderwoman tattoo on her arm!
